Engineering colleges in Karnataka accept multiple entrance exams for B.Tech admissions. Students have a good number of options and can select the relevant entrance exam based on their requirement. The following are the entrance exams accepted by Karnataka engineering colleges –

  • KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA)

  • COMEDK UGET (Under Graduate Entrance Test) conducted by Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges – Karnataka on behalf of Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association. COMEDK UGET is applicable for B.Tech admission in 190 private engineering colleges across the state.

Academic Qualification

  • Karnataka B.Tech applicants must have passed PUC (Class 12) with at least 45% of marks.

  • The applicants must have studied Class 12 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science as the main subjects.

  • The applicants must have a valid KCET or COMEDK UGET or JEE Main score to secure B.Tech admission in Karnataka.

K-CET Domicile Rules

  • The candidates who completed their education in Karnataka (including PUC) for a period of seven years are eligible for B.Tech admission in Karnataka through KCET. These students can compete for admission in government/ private engineering colleges.

  • Candidates who have studied only Class 11 & 12 from Karnataka can also apply for B.Tech admission through KCET. However, the parents of the students must have studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of seven years.

  • Candidates whose parents mother language is Kannada can apply for B.Tech admission through KCET. These candidates must undergo a Kannada Language Test conducted by KEA.

  • Students will be assigned KCET exam centres in their respective districts.

COMED-K Domicile Rules

  • The candidates who completed their education in Karnataka (including PUC) for a period of seven years are eligible for B.Tech admission in Karnataka through COMEDK UGET. These students can compete for admission in private engineering colleges.

  • Hyderabad Karnataka region students can also apply for B.Tech admission in Karnataka through COMEDK UGET. Private engineering colleges reserve some seats for candidates belonging to the Hyderabad Karnataka region.

  • Students from outside Karnataka can register for B.Tech admission in the state through COMEDK UGET score.
