Engineering colleges in Karnataka accept multiple entrance exams for B.Tech admissions. Students have a good number of options and can select the relevant entrance exam based on their requirement. The following are the entrance exams accepted by Karnataka engineering colleges –
KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA)
COMEDK UGET (Under Graduate Entrance Test) conducted by Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges – Karnataka on behalf of Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association. COMEDK UGET is applicable for B.Tech admission in 190 private engineering colleges across the state.
Academic Qualification
Karnataka B.Tech applicants must have passed PUC (Class 12) with at least 45% of marks.
The applicants must have studied Class 12 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science as the main subjects.
The applicants must have a valid KCET or COMEDK UGET or JEE Main score to secure B.Tech admission in Karnataka.
K-CET Domicile Rules
The candidates who completed their education in Karnataka (including PUC) for a period of seven years are eligible for B.Tech admission in Karnataka through KCET. These students can compete for admission in government/ private engineering colleges.
Candidates who have studied only Class 11 & 12 from Karnataka can also apply for B.Tech admission through KCET. However, the parents of the students must have studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of seven years.
Candidates whose parents mother language is Kannada can apply for B.Tech admission through KCET. These candidates must undergo a Kannada Language Test conducted by KEA.
Students will be assigned KCET exam centres in their respective districts.
COMED-K Domicile Rules
The candidates who completed their education in Karnataka (including PUC) for a period of seven years are eligible for B.Tech admission in Karnataka through COMEDK UGET. These students can compete for admission in private engineering colleges.
Hyderabad Karnataka region students can also apply for B.Tech admission in Karnataka through COMEDK UGET. Private engineering colleges reserve some seats for candidates belonging to the Hyderabad Karnataka region.
Students from outside Karnataka can register for B.Tech admission in the state through COMEDK UGET score.
